I had the best surfing experience ever with Rem at Awake Surf & Yoga Retreat in Siargao! From the very beginning, she was incredibly flexible and accommodating—she adjusted schedules to make sure I had the best possible surf conditions, which made a huge difference to my experience.

Rem truly goes above and beyond for her guests. She took such great care of everyone and paid close attention to each person’s individual surfing level, making sure we all had a safe, fun, and rewarding time in the water.

My stay at Muimui Villa Resort was also wonderful—comfortable, relaxing, and with a delicious breakfast included every morning. What really stood out was how thoughtfully Rem curated all the meals. Every lunch and dinner spot was carefully chosen so we could enjoy some of the best cuisine on the island.

One of the absolute highlights of the retreat was the island day trip to Mam-On Island—such a beautiful and unforgettable experience!

Throughout the entire stay, Rem made me feel so welcome and cared for—it honestly felt like being at home. The whole retreat had such a positive, relaxed vibe.

I highly recommend this retreat to anyone who loves surfing or simply wants to experience Siargao with great energy, amazing food, and genuine hospitality. I will definitely be back!

I had such a great experience at Awake Siargao — it really exceeded my expectations. Rem, the founder, completely sets the tone. She’s super warm, welcoming, and just has this genuinely bubbly energy that makes you feel comfortable right away. You can tell she’s put a ton of thought into the whole program, and it shows in every detail.

The surf instructors were also amazing — really skilled, patient, and encouraging. What stood out most is how the whole team works together to make sure you’re always at the best surf spot depending on the conditions that day.

One of the coolest parts was how non-touristy everything felt. We even went out to a pretty remote island where there were basically no other people around, which made the whole trip feel really special and unique.

Rem also picked incredible restaurants throughout the trip, every meal was something to look forward to and she genuinely goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable and having a good time. It just felt really thoughtful and well put together.

I had an absolutely incredible week at this surf retreat! I had never surfed before, but from the moment I arrived, I felt so comfortable and welcomed. Rem went above and beyond to make the experience wholesome, fun, and tailored to everyone’s needs. I learned so many new skills and gained confidence in the water, all while surrounded by such a positive and supportive environment. I can’t recommend this retreat enough and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Our week-long surf retreat was truly one of the most memorable trips we’ve taken. From the outset, Rem was exceptionally responsive and supportive during the planning stages, even working with us to schedule retreat dates that suited our group. This flexibility immediately made the experience feel both seamless and personalised.

What set the trip apart was the level of care and attention Rem put into every detail, it really felt like we were being guided by someone with a genuine passion for the area. She took us to many of her favourite local restaurants and cafés, which became some of the highlights of the week.

The 1:1 coaching was also outstanding. The coaches were respectful, engaging, and highly knowledgeable, and their guidance significantly boosted our confidence in the water. Each day they picked us up by scooter/motorbike and took us to the day’s surf location, which added to the sense of adventure. On several occasions we had the break almost entirely to ourselves, making the experience even more special.

We also celebrated two birthdays during the retreat, and Rem went above and beyond to make them memorable, organising birthday cakes and small celebrations for both occasions.

Between the excellent surf, beautiful surroundings, and Rem’s exceptional hosting, it was a truly unique and personal experience. We left with wonderful memories and would highly recommend this retreat to anyone seeking a welcoming, relaxed, and thoughtfully curated surf trip.

Rem was amazing and made the experience feel really personal. She took us to the best surf spots and shared great local knowledge, not just about the waves but also the food and the area. I attended Awake Surf Retreats last January, and it was honestly one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had in Siargao.

I’ve been living on the island for three years, but this was the first time I experienced it as a guest. For once, I wasn’t organizing anything, planning logistics, or thinking ahead. Everything was taken care of. All I had to do was show up. That alone felt like such a gift.

I found myself in awe of my own island home all over again. We visited restaurants and spots I had never tried before, and it reminded me that no matter how long you live here, there’s still so much to explore. It made me fall in love with Siargao even deeper.

Surf-wise, this retreat was transformational for me. I almost drowned in 2024, and since then, I’ve carried quiet fear in the water. My coach, Jason, knew about it and handled it with so much skill and care. By the end of the week, my anxiety was gone. I was enjoying the waves again. Being surrounded by such solid surfers in the lineup, and learning from one of the best longboarders on the island, helped me rebuild not just my skills, but my confidence. I genuinely improved, but more importantly, I healed something.

Rem is an incredible host. I’ve known her since our CrossFit days back in 2023, but getting to know her more deeply during this retreat was such a blessing. She creates a space that feels intentional, warm, and beautifully curated.

And the girls I met, Vicky, Charlotte, and Jossica, I’ll cherish those friendships forever. There’s something special about bonding through waves, shared meals, and island adventures.

Incredibly grateful for this experience. If you want to experience Siargao in a deeper, more intentional way, this is it. 💙

I did a private retreat in February 2026 and LOVED it. Rem is a force of joy, good vibes, caring, and competence. She packaged a place to stay (the Bajala hostel), daily transport to the breaks (motorcycles, vans, boats), a wonderful coach (Estong), and maybe most importantly--figured out which break was best each day, depending on the swell, tide, winds, my skill level, where the crowds would be, etc. I wanted to work on carving and turns, and my coach made sure I was positioned to go for the right size waves and was extremely patient and gave great feedback and encouragement as I slowly improved. There was one other person also doing a private retreat at the same time, and it was nice to connect with him as well. Even in the middle of the rainy season, Siargao is incredibly beautiful. I will definitely be back!!
