Venture with Impact: Lissabon, Portugal 🇵🇹

Ich bin gerade von einem Monat in San Miguel de Allende zurückgekommen. Ich hatte eine fabelhafte Erfahrung als Freiwillige in einer Kita/Vorschule für Kinder aus einkommensschwachen Familien. VWI hat mir eine wunderschöne Unterkunft nahe dem Stadtzentrum besorgt und mir die ganze Unterstützung gegeben, die ich brauchte... vom Organisieren von Tagesausflügen und Touren über das Finden einer Lehrerin für ein paar Spanischstunden bis dahin, mir einfach zu helfen, mich zurechtzufinden.

Ich empfehle das ALLEN, die darüber nachdenken, SEHR... und ich freue mich auf meine nächste Gelegenheit, mit ihnen zu reisen (vielleicht beim nächsten Mal Portugal oder Thailand?).

Just got back from a month in San Miguel de Allende. I had a fabulous experience volunteering at a daycare/preschool for children from low income families. VWI provided me with beautiful accommodations near the city center and gave me all the support I needed...from putting together day trips and tours, finding a teacher for a few Spanish lessons, and just helping me find my way around.

I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone considering it...and I look forward to my next opportunity to take a trip with them (maybe Portugal or Thailand next time?).

Ich liebe es zu reisen und war bisher schon recht viel allein unterwegs, aber die Erfahrung von Venture with Impact bietet eine zusätzliche Ebene des engen Eintauchens in die lokale Kultur - wie Fliesenherstellungskurse oder E-Bike-Touren in einem portugiesischen Fischerdorf - die ich sonst nicht hätte machen können. Außerdem habe ich durch meine wunderbare Volunteer-Möglichkeit viel über die Arbeitsweise von gemeinnützigen Organisationen und Bildung in Portugal gelernt. Unser Program Manager gab uns die besten lokalen Empfehlungen und wir lernten lokale Unternehmen, Geschäfte, Cafés, Pubs und Programme kennen, die sonst schwer zu entdecken oder zu planen gewesen wären - nach ein paar Wochen dort waren wir diejenigen, die anderen digitalen Nomaden Reisetipps gaben. Ich konnte remote für meinen Job in den USA arbeiten, in einer sicheren und gemütlichen Umgebung, mit gutem WLAN und der tollen Gesellschaft meiner Mit-Venturers with Impact. Ich würde meine Reise-/Remote-Work-Pläne in Zukunft definitiv in die Hände des VWI-Teams legen.

I love traveling and moved around quite a bit on my own so far, but the experience offered by Venture with Impact has an extra layer of close immersion in the local culture - like tile making classes, or electric bike tours in a portuguese fishermen village - that I would've otherwise not gotten a chance to do. On top of that I got to learn a lot about the workings of non-profits and education in Portugal through my wonderful volunteer opportunity. Our program manager gave us the best local recommendations and we got to experience local businesses, shops, cafes, pubs, and programs that otherwise would've been difficult to discover or plan - after a couple of weeks there, we were the ones giving travel recommendations to other digital nomads. I got to work remotely for my job in the US, in a safe and comfy environment, with good wi-fi, and the great company of my fellow Venturers with Impact. I would definitely put my travel/remote work plans in the hands of VWI team in the future.

Gemeinsam mit Venture with Impact habe ich im vergangenen Mai im Rahmen eines einwöchigen Retreats in Lissabon eine Reihe von Karriereseminaren gehalten. Mit Ann Davis zusammenzuarbeiten war großartig. Ich habe es sehr geschätzt, wie gut sie sich um das Retreat gekümmert hat, von der Planung bis zur Logistik des Aufenthalts. Sie war ruhig und professionell, klar und präzise in ihrer Kommunikation, gut organisiert und lustig! Ann war auch sehr gut darin, mit mir das Retreat-Programm zu erstellen, das sowohl Karriere- als auch kulturelle Impact-Aktivitäten enthielt. Es hat sehr gut funktioniert und das Retreat bekam tolles Feedback von den Teilnehmern. Ich freue mich darauf, wieder mit Ann an dem Retreat zu arbeiten, das wir für Lissabon im April 2020 planen.

In conjunction with Venture with Impact, I delivered a series of career seminars as part of a weeklong retreat in Lisbon this past May. Ann Davis was amazing to work with. I appreciated her taking such great care of the retreat from planning to logistics of the stay. She was calm and professional, clear and concise in her communications, well organized, and fun! Ann was also very good at working with me on creating the retreat itinerary which incorporated both career and cultural impact activities. It worked out very well and the retreat received great feedback from participants. I look forward to working with Ann again on the retreat we're planning for Lisbon in April 2020.

Ich habe im Juni 2019 am einmonatigen Programm in Lissabon, Portugal, teilgenommen. Unsere Reise war gut organisiert mit schönen Unterkünften, und außerdem habe ich es geliebt, meine Mitreisenden kennenzulernen! Die Organisation, bei der ich ehrenamtlich gearbeitet habe, wird immer einen besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen haben; ich bin dankbar für unsere Zusammenarbeit. Ich hätte allein keine lustigere und bedeutungsvollere Erfahrung planen können ❤

I participated in the month-long program in Lisbon, Portugal, during June of 2019. Our trip was well-organized with beautiful accommodations, plus I loved getting to know my travel companions! The org I volunteered with will always have a special place in my heart; I'm thankful for our partnership. I couldn't have planned a more fun and meaningful experience on my own ❤
