Africa Nomads: Nairobi, Kenia 🇰🇪

If you’re curious about exploring Africa, Africa Nomads is the perfect place to start. They make the experience seamless, so you can focus on your work instead of figuring out logistics.
I spent five weeks with them, split between Nairobi and Lamu, and enjoyed every moment. I’ll definitely be back for more adventures.

Había querido visitar el África subsahariana, pero dudaba porque me preocupaban cuestiones como la fiabilidad de la electricidad y el wifi. No había estado antes en una situación de coliving/coworking, pero cuando me topé con AfricaNomads me pareció una buena forma de vivir África.

Me alojé en Nairobi seis semanas. Como mujer de mediados de los 60, estaba un poco preocupada, pero todos fueron superaceptadores y me invitaron a todas partes aunque la mayoría tenían edad para ser mis hijos o nietos. :) De verdad sentí que hice amigos para toda la vida durante mi estancia.

La electricidad y el wifi estaban por lo general disponibles, y la estancia incluye una tarjeta SIM local y todos los datos que necesitas. Hay muchísimas actividades a las que puedes unirte, o no, incluyendo todas las cosas turísticas habituales además de experiencias de sitios escondidos que solo consigues de la gente que vive allí.

Los miembros de mi grupo estaban sin duda allí para trabajar y por lo general eran tranquilos y ordenados. Tuve una experiencia tan buena en Nairobi que pienso unirme otra vez al grupo más adelante este año para Lamu y Etiopía.

Alejandra y Felipe vienen de la industria de la hostelería y se nota mucho. Se desviven por darte cualquier información o ayuda que necesites y tuvieron una paciencia infinita con todas nuestras exigencias del primer mundo. :)

I'd wanted to visit sub-Saharan Africa but hesitated because I was concerned about issues such as reliable electricity and wifi. I hadn't stayed in a coliving/coworking situation before but when I encountered AfricaNomads it seemed like a good way to experience Africa.

I stayed in Nairobi for six weeks. As a woman in her mid-60s I was a little concerned but everyone was super accepting and invited me everywhere even though most of them were young enough to be my children or grandchildren. :) I really felt like I made lifelong friends during my stay.

Electricity and wifi were generally available, and the stay includes a local sim card and all the data you need. There are plenty of activities you can join in with, or not, including all the standard tourist things as well as hole-in-the-wall experiences you only get from people living there.

Members in my group were definitely there to work, and were generally quiet and tidy. I had such a good experience in Nairobi that I'm planning to join the group again later this year for Lamu and Ethiopia.

Alejandra and Felipe come from the hospitality industry and it really shows. They bend over backwards to provide whatever information or help that you need and were endlessly patient with all our first world demands. :)

Gracias a Felipe, Alejandra y a todo el equipo. Su profundo amor por el continente africano es algo que realmente se siente en la manera en que lo comparten contigo cada día. Para mí, esa fue la parte más significativa: estar rodeada de gente tan genuina durante una etapa tan extraordinaria de la vida.
Me uní a mi pareja en el último minuto y me hicieron sentir bienvenida y cómoda al instante en un continente completamente nuevo.
Felipe compartió su pasión y sus conocimientos sobre senderismo y exploración de montañas, tanto locales como internacionales. Alejandra y yo conectamos por nuestro amor compartido por la fotografía, especialmente la de aves.
Esta experiencia de coliving tuvo una verdadera profundidad y resultó ser increíble. Disfruté de cada actividad y aventura que compartimos: safaris, senderismo, pádel, restaurantes locales, clases de idiomas, museos, música en directo, noches de cine y muchísimo más. Siempre había algo nuevo que descubrir. Todo estaba organizado con esmero, de forma segura y de manera que era fácil equilibrar trabajo y viaje. El alojamiento era estupendo, la gente de las casas era tranquila y tenías acceso a todo lo que esperarías de una experiencia de coliving de calidad.

Mi dieta era basada en plantas y siempre había opciones cocinadas con cariño durante nuestros viajes fuera de la ciudad. Nairobi es una ciudad vibrante y también podrás encontrar buenas opciones de comida.

Sinceramente, lo mejor que puedes hacer es unirte y crear tu propio chapter con ellos.

Thank you to Felipe, Alejandra, and the whole team. Their deep love for the African continent is something you truly feel in the way they share it with you every single day. For me, that was the most meaningful part: being surrounded by such genuine people during such an extraordinary chapter of life.
I joined my partner at the last minute, and they immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable on a completely new continent.
Felipe shared his passion and insights about hiking and exploring the mountains, both locally and internationally. Alejandra and I connected through our shared love for photography, especially bird photography.
This coliving experience had real depth, and it turned out to be incredible. I enjoyed every activity and adventure we shared together: safaris, hiking, padel, local restaurants, language classes, museums, live music, movie nights, and so much more. There was always something new to discover. Everything was organized thoughtfully, safely, and in a way that made it easy to balance work and travel. The accommodation was great, the people in the houses were easy going and you had access to everything you would expect from a quality coliving experience.

I was plant-based and there was always options cooked with love during our trips outside the city. Nairobi is a vibrant city and you will be able to find great food options too.

Honestly, the best thing you can do is join and create your own chapter with them.
