Hace poco fui a mi primera edición con Noma Collective en Placencia, Belice. Primero quiero decir que lo pasé genial y conocí a algunos amigos nuevos increíbles. Fue estupendo tener una comunidad de gente a mi alrededor con un horario parecido y que podía identificarse con mi estilo de vida de trabajar mientras viajo.

La única razón por la que no di 5 estrellas es que siento que podría haber habido una comunicación más clara de las expectativas por parte de Noma antes del viaje. Cuando lo reservé, no sabía que los alojamientos estaban en realidad en Maya Beach, a unos 25-30 minutos en coche de Placencia. Esperaba estar en una zona más transitable a pie, que habría sido más propicia para mi horario de trabajo y me habría permitido explorar más. También siento que habría sido más fácil integrarse con la comunidad y la cultura local si nos hubiéramos alojado más cerca.

Dicho esto, lo más destacado de la experiencia fue sin duda nuestra community manager, ¡Sarah! ¡Hizo todo lo que pudo para que este viaje fuera increíble! Es tan evidente que de verdad le importa que los nómadas disfruten de su experiencia y aprovechen al máximo su tiempo en Belice. ¡Fue súper divertida, informativa y organizada! Además, siempre estaba encantada de responder cualquier pregunta o dar recomendaciones. Con ella era muy fácil ver que está arraigada en la comunidad de Placencia. Paseando por el pueblo, los locales siempre le hablaban o la saludaban, y fue tan agradable estar con una local que nos tomó bajo su ala. Ella marcó el ambiente de todo el viaje, ¡y recomendaría muchísimo cualquier viaje/edición que ella gestione!

I recently went on my first edition with Noma Collective in Placencia, Belize! I first want to say that I had an amazing time and met some awesome new friends! It was great having a community of people around me with a similar schedule and who could relate to my work while travel lifestyle.

Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I feel there could’ve been clearer communication of expectations from Noma before the trip. When I booked it, I was not aware that the accommodations were actually located in Maya Beach - about 25-30 minute drive from Placencia. I was expecting to be located in a more walkable area which would’ve been more conducive to my work schedule and would’ve allowed me to do more exploring. I also feel like it would’ve been easier to integrate with the community and local culture if we were staying closer.

That being said, the highlight of the experience was definitely our community manager, Sarah! She did everything she could to make this trip amazing! It’s so apparent that she truly cares that the nomads enjoy their experience and get the most out of their time in Belize. She was super fun, informative, and organized! Also, she was always happy to answer any questions or give recommendations. While with her, it was so easy to see that she’s ingrained in the community of Placencia. Walking around town, the locals were always talking to her or saying hi, and it was just so nice being with a local who took us under her wing! She set the vibe for the whole trip, and I’d highly recommend any trip/edition that she is managing!
